Catching up…

The lack of activity on this blog is just plain embarrassing. I’m scrambling to meet a book deadline and have a busy month of travel with four back-to-back weekend events. Anyway, that’s my excuse for neglecting this blog as of late. I will be back more regularly after I turn in this manuscript on October 15th. Prayers appreciated!

In the meantime, I thought I’d post a few snapshots from a couple of events I recently was a part of. I love it when a new speaking season starts up!

My daughter, Paige traveled with me to a women’s event at Celebration Church in Fairhope, Alabama on September 14-15. The town is so cute! We are at Panini Pete’s, who I’m told has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. The seared tuna panini was ah-mazing!

This is sweet Ashley, who organized the event in Fairhope, AL. Someday, she will write a book. Mark my words. And I will be the first in line to get a copy. :)

They had a carnival on Friday night after I spoke complete with cotton candy, popcorn, caramel apples, massages, fireworks, a PHOTO BOOTH, and even a cruise give-away. Love this group!

The next weekend, I was off to Birmingham for the dotMOM event on September 21-22! These are some of my favorite friends from the speaker/blogger world and our fearless event leader on the far right, Paige Greene (LifeWay).

Oh my. This dress from Nations Outfitters was in my gift basket in my room. Talk about a sweet swag bag! You must check out their clothes! Be sure to read about their ministry vision when you stop by.

I was so excited that Melissa Greene led worship! She is one of my all-time favorite worship artists.

The lovely Miss Jen Hatmaker, author of “7″, who is also a fellow Austinite and friend. My word, she is funny. But even more importantly, she will nudge you out of your Christian comfort zone. (Which btw, is a very good thing.)

My sweet daughter-in-law, Casey was with me for this event. Honestly, I feel overwhelmed when I think of how blessed I am that both my daughter and daughter-in-law like to travel with me to events. And yes, the Nations Outfitters dress was so cute, I decided to wear it the next day!

Jen Hatmaker, Casey, Me, Melanie (BigMama), and Sophie (BooMama)

The one and only Esther Burroughs! I heard her speak many years ago as a young, insecure mother and was blown away. Never, ever did I imagine I would someday get to share the platform with her! Truly, one of the most beautiful women you’ll ever meet (inside and out).

Casey and I met Korie (from the reality show, Duck Dynasty) and her sweet mother. I confessed that I had never seen the show, but I plan to watch when the new season begins. Sounds intriguing!

That’s all for now, but check back in a couple of weeks. We have some amazing give-aways coming your way and I will be announcing the winning cover for my next book, Ever After!

Hello Vicki, I’m a 24 year old Brazillian and I’ve been reading your blog for years

I just wanted to tell you that you have helped me a lot in my spiritual walk, espcially because i’m the only christian in my family, and sometimes its really hard not to have help from my parents from God’d perspective of things. I know no family is perfect (and that includes yours) but reading your Flash Back Friday posts, your imputs about our culture and especially the ones related to your family life really helped me see what a Christ following family looks like. I laughed at your cheerleader pictures, cried while reading your post about Ryan & Casey unexpected pregnancy, learned about some cultural facts that are very much a like the Brazillian, cried some more watching your husband speech at Paige’s Rehearsal dinner.
I pray for my family, and that God will help me not get frustated about the things & moments I was unable to share with them, but mostly I pray that some day when I find myself with my own family (I’m engaged to be married next year) I’ll do things differently and always have God as the focus.
Thank you for being so open and giving me a little glance of what a Christian family might be like, your lives are beautufil testemonies, not because any of you is perfect (none of us are) but because when troubles, mistakes & hardships come God is still the focus & in control of your life.
May God continue to bless you & your family.

Claudia, thank you so much for your kind words. You are right that my family is not perfect, but we have fought to be honest and real. I am so glad the blog has ministered to you. Congrats on your engagement! :)

  3. Hi Vicki, I think it’s great you’ve been busy with such great goings on! And how lovely to have your daughter and daughter in law be a part of things. How blessed you are!

Okay, I have a trivial question, but it’s still important, LOL! I ADORE your clothing…can you tell me where you mostly shop, or what labels you mostly wear?? I am in love with the aqua shirt you’re wearing with Paige, and with the cream lace tunic you’re wearing at dot mom. Can you tell me where those came from or who makes them? I would be forever in your debt! ;o)

    Thanks!
    Kate

  4. Hi Kate! Thank you for your sweet words! I got the aqua top at Anthropologie and splurged on that one. I don’t normally shop anything there but the clearance rack and sadly, this one wasn’t on it! However, the lace tunic is from one of my favorite stores: TJ Maxx and it was $19.99! Most of my clothes I find at TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, or the Anthro clearance rack. Hope that helps!
