Do you have a daughter age 8 or older? Are you worried about the pressures she will face in today’s challenging culture? Do you want a way to strengthen the mother/daughter bond AND reach out to other mothers and daughters in your community? Then run, don’t walk over here to get information on how your church can host the first-ever You & Your Girl Simulcast event on Saturday, April 9th!
I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about this event. I have been praying about the main messages I will be giving and feel a clear direction on the theme and scripture passages God has directed me to share. Most of all, I look forward to seeing mothers and daughters come together from across the country for the purpose of strengthening their mother/daughter relationships, as well as their relationships with the Lord.
In addition to the main session teaching times and worship, the event will offer a time for break-out sessions that will be led by qualified and capable women from your very own community! LifeWay will be offering the teaching outlines on the following breakout topics:
3rd-4th Grade Break-Outs:

Tell Me How
Description: People trust in a lot of things and people as the authorities for life. In this break-out girls will focus on the “how-to’s” of studying the Bible and trusting God’s Word as the authority. Together girls will look at how to own their faith, how to have a quiet time, and how to pray.7th-8th Grade Break-Outs:
Break-out #1
Besties Til The End
Description: Why do we treat the ones we claim to love the most with the least respect? Jesus had a group of close friends and John was his bestie, so isn’t it okay for me to have one too? This session will discuss ways friendships change, how to treat our friends, and talk about the thing we love to talk about the most…GOSSIP.Break-out #2
The Fastest TEXT-er Ever
Description: Do you ever wonder how much time you spend on your phone or with your friends but yet neglect the most important relationship of all? God has sent the best text message ever and we don’t even take time to read it or even reply back. This session will teach you why a relationship with God is needed in your life as well as some ways to build one with Him.9th-12th Grade Break-Outs:
Break-Out #1
Can’t Tame Me
Description: What does it look like to be free and independent to become all that God created you to be? How do you feel when you hear that God isn’t trying to tame you or mold you into some kind of clone exactly like everyone else? In this breakout, girls will look deeper in to three key characteristics of someone who can’t be tamed.Break-Out #2
True Princess
Description: In recent years, there’s been a powerful movement aimed at convincing girls and young women that they are princesses, valued and prized by their Heavenly Father, God the King. But this kind of royalty is different from what the culture expects. This breakout will challenge you to take off the tiara and shift your focus from being the pampered princess to a humble servant of the King.

THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!!!! I HAVE TO FIND A LOCATION!!!!! Thank you for offering this option Vicki!
Bummer!!! This is the end of Spring Break for Metro Atlanta schools, so I’m thinking our churches are not going to invest in it. Will it be taped so that we might have access afterward? I’d pay for the DVD and use it with our school girls…
Vicki,
This is off the subject – I was just wondering what your take is on the ipod touch. My daughter, newly 11, wants one. She says that all her friends have one.
And I’m definitely not one to give in to the crowd. But I don’t want to be unreasonable either. In your opinion, is there an appropriate age to introduce this? We’ve already told her that she isn’t able to have a cell phone. I’m concerned about all the texting that may start with one. Thanks so much for your help!
PJ, ipod touches come with the Safari browser which would give her web access anywhere there is a wireless Internet service available. So, unless you disable the Safari browser, she would have the ability to chat, Facebook, access the web, upload apps from itunes, etc… I’m with you on not wanting to be unreasonable, so you might compromise by disabling the browser initially, or getting her a cell phone w/ basic features and very limited texting (if any). We made our kids prove they were responsible before adding other technology privileges. There will be mistakes made along the way, but at least she’ll know you are serious about monitoring her usage.
Vicki,
Thanks so much!
Tonight I’m saying “War Eagle!” and thought I’d let you know.
Haha! Kecia, makes me love you even more!!
I didnt realize my youngest daughter was able to participate!!! YAY (4th grader) I had made plans to take my oldest daughter to Nashville (or the live location) but, I got an email from a sweet friend of mine whose church is hosting the simulcast…a few minutes from my house. YAY again!! Looking forward to it!
We are hosting at First Baptist Winter Garden in Sunny Florida! If you know of anyone in Central Florida let them know we will take registrations at the door, but will have to limit our break-out session size. All the moms that can fit in our room are welcome to join us!!
